Les Allues is a commune located in the Tarentaise region of Savoie. Until 1860, the territory of Savoie belonged to the States of the House of Savoy, which were part of the Kingdom of Sardinia, before it was annexed by France.

The municipality is divided into several villages and hamlets surrounding the main town—the Saint-Martin Church plays a central role in rural life: Sunday Mass and religious holidays are of considerable importance in social life.
