Historic information
The commune of Saint-Christophe-en-Oisans occupies the entire upper Vénéon valley, in the heart of the Ecrins massif.
The main village is linked to several hamlets, the most important of which is La Bérarde (from “bérards”: sheep shepherds).
Until 1928, when the modern road was built, transport and the movement of goods were mainly carried out on the backs of mules – the main form of rural transport.
